Hi friends, today I have something very interesting to talk about ; the placements @IIT G are almost over for Btech guys and I feel happy about Chem Eng. dept which has 2nd highest average (7.9 lpa) package among 12 other eng. disciplines.
The placement scenario this time was mind boggling as there is a huge turnout in the situation from last few years after recession. IT sector at present is recruiting at its maximum potential and offering handsome salaries.10 offers made by RIL (Reliance India Limited ) to Chem Eng. undergraduates clearly shows boom in the core sector .Even PSU's like BHEL,ONGC,EIL are recruiting from Che Eng. after a long span (ref IIT Guwahati) which is quite surprising.
People placed in core sector are mostly placed in conventional industries demanding chemical engineers.We have no access to modern industries which require chemical engineers. In the coming years a huge untapped potential lies in renewable sources of energy , so this may turn out to be a hot research area for prospective researchers.
